A sustainable snack
Our Macambo is sourced 100% from forest gardens managed by our smallholder families in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, in the Napo region.
Macambo grows alongside hundreds of other useful plants on the same plot, including Guayusa, Ishpingo, bananas, cacao, lemongrass and more. Your purchase helps preserve this biodiversity and protects the Amazon from deforestation for monocultures and livestock farming.

Health properties
Macambo is related to cacao, but tastes different from classic cacao nibs. The seeds have their own texture and a nutty character. As a whole edible ingredient, Macambo fits into a varied plant-based diet.
Macambo contains plant-based protein, fat and fibre. This makes the snack different from a tea infusion: you consume the solid ingredient and its nutrients. You can check the specific amounts per serving using the nutritional information on your pack.
Enjoy Macambo on its own, as part of a bowl or in homemade snack mixes. Try it with cacao nibs or dried banana and find your favourite mix. A small portion is a good way to start getting to know its flavour and how filling it is.

Recipes and ideas
Perfect as a protein snack after exercise or during stressful periods. Also ideal as a topping for bowls, in homemade muesli bars or paired with dark chocolate.
Easy to blend into Macambo crunch or flour – for example, for smoothies or biscuits.

The story behind your GUYA

Crunchy, nutty, nutrient-rich – Macambo is the forgotten brother of cocoa and a real treasure of rainforest cultures.
Macambo, also known as white cocoa (Theobroma bicolor), Pataxte or Jaguar cocoa, has been used as a high-energy snack by indigenous peoples of the Amazon for centuries. The beans come from the Kichwa Chakras in Santa Rita, Napo - sustainably grown, traditionally processed and ready to eat.
Unlike classic cocoa, Macambo beans do not need to be roasted or processed. Their mild, nutty, buttery flavour has a subtle sweetness, like a blend of cashews, Brazil nuts and cocoa, but is much lighter.
An ideal snack between meals, rich in plant protein, long-chain carbohydrates, fibre and natural energy.
