100% Ishpingo leaves

Grown in forest gardens to protect Amazon biodiversity.

Amazon cinnamon is easy to prepare. Use 1-2 heaped teaspoons in a 400 ml glass jar and pour boiling water over the leaves.

Ishpingo is also suitable for blends with guayusa , ginger , hibiscus and vanilla .

Our Amazonian Cinnamon consists of pure, dried cinnamon leaves (also called Ishpingo) from the Amazon rainforest. These leaves have the same intense taste and scent as cinnamon bark.

They are sustainably grown in the permaculture forest gardens of the Kichwa indigenous people in Ecuador to protect the biodiversity of the rainforest.

Ideal for your own tea blends, for cooking and baking - an aromatic natural product from the Amazon without coumarin, which is found in cassia cinnamon and is carcinogenic.

GUYA now also offers this ingredient as a single product, without Guayusa to support farmers in Ecuador through further product purchases. The philosophy behind the GUYA Products are always “promoting biodiversity”. Support us in this project and immerse yourself in the tasty world of the Amazon rainforest!

With us you can also be sure that we are not just resellers of ingredients. On ours YouTube channel you will find short documentaries and vlogs from our farmers in Ecuador. The GUYA-Founder Sebastian shows you transparently how our collaboration works and how yours works Guayusa is produced.

Cinnamon leaves from Ecuador

Amazon cinnamon leaf (Ishpingo)

Amazon cinnamon is an evergreen tree whose leaves and fruits taste like cinnamon. Used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years, the cinnamon leaf was first discovered by Spanish explorers in 1542. However, it could never be used commercially due to a lack of drying and transportation facilities.

By purchasing Ishpingo you support biodiversity in the Amazon rainforest and prevent deforestation and monocultures.

Health properties

Effect of Ishpingo

The oils in Ishpingo counteract bacteria and fungi and therefore help with stomach, skin and dental problems caused by bacteria or fungi.

Ishpingo has also been shown to have particularly potent and safe antithrombotic activity in the treatment of blood clots in the vessels, thrombosis.

Recipes and ideas

preparation

Ishpingo tea can be brewed with boiling water and should be allowed to steep for at least 5 minutes. If you prefer, you can leave the leaves in the water longer; the tea won't become bitter.

Delicious combinations include hibiscus tea , guayusa , vanilla guayusa tea , our Amazon vanilla powder , and ginger tea . Ishpingo is also suitable for baking and cooking.
