Guayusa from Ecuador
After harvesting, Guayusa PURE (green Guayusa) is dried as quickly as possible. As with green tea, this helps preserve most of the antioxidants and Guayusa’s fresh, original flavour.
Guayusa DARK, by contrast, is dried slowly and oxidised.

Health properties
The direct pick-me-up in PURE is naturally occurring caffeine from Guayusa leaves. It stimulates the central nervous system and can make you feel more alert and reduce feelings of tiredness. Here, your pick-me-up comes in a cup of tea, with PURE’s grassy, earthy and slightly fruity flavour.
More than caffeine: Guayusa contains antioxidant plant compounds, including chlorogenic acids. These polyphenols are also being studied in connection with mental performance. L-theanine has also been described in studies of Guayusa. This amino acid is of particular interest in attention research because of how it works together with caffeine. Many studies now look at specifically dosed individual compounds. We’ve brought together findings and background information in our blog about L-theanine and caffeine, as well as in the Guayusa Wiki articles on L-theanine and antioxidants.
As you start your morning, before your next work session or by your desk: find a moment for a mindful tea ritual. Pour water over the leaves, let them steep and enjoy. Choose whether to drink PURE hot or prepare it cold as a cold brew.
Start with one or two teaspoons per 350 ml of water and a steeping time of five to ten minutes. Adjust the amount of tea to suit your taste and personal caffeine sensitivity. How strongly and for how long you feel caffeine varies from person to person. If you’re sensitive to it, enjoy PURE earlier in the day.

In three steps
Add 1–2 teaspoons of tea to the infuser for 350 ml of water.
Pour boiling water directly into the infuser.
Steep for 5–10 minutes or longer. Remove the infuser and enjoy.
Pour 1–2 teaspoons of Guayusa leaves into 350 ml of boiling water. Leave to steep for 5–10 minutes, depending on how strong you like it.
Also great with orange tea, ginger, lemongrass, ishpingo and hibiscus tea.
GUYA PURE can be prepared with boiling water. The tea won’t turn bitter, even with very long steeping times. After about 10–15 minutes, most of the active compounds have transferred into the water. A longer steep brings out a slightly stronger flavour.
For cold brew, we recommend steeping for at least 6 hours and up to 12 hours. An 8-hour overnight steep is ideal.
